We're excited about an opportunity this spring to be the hands and feet of Jesus right here in the US.
After natural disasters the news headlines move on quickly to other things, but there are still deep needs in communities for years as people try to rebuild their lives. One organization that helps wit that is Samaritan’s Purse. They are currently leading some rebuilding projects in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene devastated the area in September of 2024.
One of the huge benefits of serving with Samaritan’s Purse is it’s very affordable. The main costs are just the traveling to get there with gas and food. You also don’t need any previous construction experience (though that’s a plus!) to help. They also accept teenagers 14 and older who are with their families.
Betty Schmidt will be leading a trip down to North Carolina Sunday, April 26th through Friday, May 1st.
We encourage you to pray about this opportunity and see if it’s something God might be leading you to participate in. Going on a mission trip is one of the best things you can do for your faith. It shakes you out of your normal routines, helps you forge deep connections with other followers of Jesus, and helps you grow in love for others.
If you are interested, have questions, or want to learn more, Betty will be having an informational meeting on Sunday, February 15th between services in the Lounge (the room across from the bathrooms) to share more details and answer questions.
If you can’t make that meeting but are still interested, you can reach out to Betty via email.
Thanks for taking the time to think and pray about whether this is something God is leading you to do this spring!
