Dive deeper into the content of the sermon.

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5

The messenger fit the message.

Bottom Line

Our weakness is to be our witness.

3 ways we try to avoid weakness:

  1. We locate our weakness in the past
  2. We manage our weakness
  3. We expect Jesus to remove our weakness

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

Action Steps

Prayerful Reflection

  • Where am I tempted to showcase my status or success as a means of impressing others?
  • What is an area of weakness that I can lay before God and ask him to work in me?
  • Is there a trial, struggle, or hardship that God is leading me to share with others as a testament to his work in my life?

Practice

  • Share a weakness or a struggle with someone this week.
