Bottom Line: God wants our learning to shape us for the future.

What has been your biggest takeaway from our series on James?

We are to be a community that perseveres when things get tough.

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Trials can be leveraged for spiritual profit.

We are to be a community that is wise with our words.

The tongue is small, but can cause big problems.

One test of authentic faith is how we speak about others.

The spiritually mature bridle their tongues to bring about good.

James 1:19
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry

We are to be a community that cares for the poor and oppressed.

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

We love all people or we break all God’s laws.

There’s no VIP treatment in the Kingdom of God.

We, the people of God, are to reflect the heart of God toward the poor.

We are to be a community that lives our faith out loud.

James 2:17
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Faith that doesn’t work doesn’t work.

Good works are not a substitute for faith; they are evidence of genuine faith.

Your actions reveal your devotion to the way of Jesus.
