We’re inviting you to take a trip to Milwaukee to join Saturday Serve Days with the organization Bridge Builders. Bridge Builders was started in 2016 by Pastor Kurt Owens who has spent most of his life in north Milwaukee and identified a problem that was common to many struggling communities there – out-of-state landlords who fail to invest in their homes, which leads to renters with high turnover, and lack of overall stability in a community. Once he began to invest in these communities by restoring homes, he began to see crime rates go down, local businesses start to thrive, and neighbors feel more connected and hopeful.
Saturday Serve Days are an opportunity for skilled and unskilled workers to restore homes alongside residents from the neighborhood who benefit from these projects.
Projects range from community gardens, fencing, porches, railings, painting, staining, and other projects that can be completed in a day. On Serve Days, we tackle multiple homes throughout our target areas.
Registration
In order to serve, you should register. Registration will be done through Crosspoint and details about projects and transportation will be communicated as we near the event date.
