Let’s declare AND demonstrate the gospel through service. We’re partnering with Bridge Builders in their “Block Transformation Initiative,” helping with minor projects and trash pick up in the neighborhood.
This initiative consists of construction projects which serve as a platform that connects those with a heart and capacity to transform lives with residents who lack social and economic capital in our target areas. Their projects range from community gardens, fencing, porches, railings, painting, staining, and other projects that can be completed in a day. On Serve Days, they tackle multiple homes throughout our target areas.
Both students and adults will be joining together for this Serve Day. More details for travel and carpooling will be communicated, but if you are coming alone as a student, you can find what to expect below.
What to expect if you're a student
We will meet at Crosspoint at 7:00 AM, then drive to the Hub House of Bridge Builders located at 4621 N 40th Street. We will also meet back at the hub house for lunch (12 noon). Lunch will be provided for all volunteers. Wear footwear and clothing that will be work-comfortable and free to get dirty. Many volunteers have moderate to low construction skills but there is always a highly skilled contractor overseeing projects. We love having people of all skill levels.
