Message Notes
But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

Bottom Line

Cultivating peace within leads to the outpouring of peace between.

Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it
Psalm 34:14
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God
Matthew 5:9
If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people.
Romans 12:9
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace
Ephesians 4:3
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace
Colossians 3:15

See like Jesus

So God created human beings in his own image, in the image of God he created them
Genesis 1:27

Relate like Jesus

In your relationships with one another, have the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human being, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
Philippians 2:5-8

Forgive like Jesus

Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
Luke 23:34

Action Steps

1. Attend to one or more of the following questions:

  • Who do I need to see as made in the image of God?
  • Who do I need to relate to the way Jesus relates to me?
  • Who do I need to forgive and pursue reconciliation with?

2. Begin and end each day with this prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in the giving that we receive,
it is in the pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in the dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen
