Child Dedication

There are two components to this first milestone – a parent class and a family dedication ceremony.  This milestone normally occurs for parents who have children between birth and one year of age.  Parents attend the Milestone 1 class and learn how to become primary faith trainers for their children and accept that responsibility.  Resources and learning opportunities are provided for the new parents desiring to dedicate their child to the Lord.  Once parents have attended the Milestone 1 class, an application can be completed to request that a child be dedicated.  During the dedication ceremony, parents make a public commitment to raise their child in the ways of the Lord.
Our next Milestone 1 Class will be Sunday, October 8th at 11 am. The Child Dedication Service will be Sunday, November 5th at 12:30 pm.

Salvation + Baptism

An important milestone in the life of every person is salvation and baptism. For the child growing up in a Christian home and in the context of a local church, a decision point is often reached between the ages of 7 and 11. This decision may also occur later in life. Between Milestone 1 and Milestone 3, we partner with and equip parents to lead their kids toward a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which leads to salvation. Once a child professes a faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection for his own salvation, parents and children are encouraged to attend the Milestone 3 class together.  This class teaches the biblical truth about salvation and baptism.

If a child is interested in being baptized, he or she must attend the Milestone 3 class with a parent and schedule a short interview with the Children’s Ministry Director.  If it is determined that the child understands and has made a faith commitment the child may participate in a future baptism service.
